For the second annual Boomslang festival, scheduled to take place September 10th-12th in Lexington KY, local designers and artists throughout the community are working to create an installation show that will premiere on September 12th, 7pm, at LOT Gallery. Local First Lexington provides the inspiration for this concept, so the show’s creators plan to base each installation piece on a different Local First Lexington business.
Each participating business will provide their team of artists and designers with waste materials from their stores; those materials then become the basis for the installation piece. Each piece will occupy approximately 20sqft, and will include a garment decorated entirely by the designer and artists utilizing materials from one of the participating Local First businesses.
Artists and designers will work on their creations in the space from now until the opening on September 12th. LOT provides the space for us until September 27th, allowing for multiple showings that go beyond the end of Boomslang festivities. We will make complete schedule of showings available the night of the grand opening.
